Flight code, ground code, and the pipeline between them.

Software spans further than most people expect. On one end there is flight software running on hardware you cannot reboot by hand. On the other there is the web interface an operator uses to command a spacecraft during a pass that lasts a few minutes.

In between sits the pipeline: packet standards, transport, storage, and the image processing that decides whether a smudge in a frame is a gamma-ray burst or a cosmic ray hit.

What we're working on

  • GS-2's routing, CCSDS conversion, cloud infrastructure, and operator interface
  • AIRIS's onboard transient identification, frame alignment, and long-term storage
  • SCALAR's Mission Operations Framework for uploading experiments after launch

What you'll pick up

  • Embedded and flight software
  • Real-time data pipelines and packet protocols
  • Image processing and detection algorithms
  • Full-stack web work for mission operations
